In addition, Amtrak California is working on new railcar design. See what you think.
Reflections from the Rails
I 've gone from being a weekly rider to a daily commuter on Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner train between San Diego and Los Angeles. I call the 120-mile ride my "power commute", and you'd be surprised how many of us there are! This blog includes train reflections, commuter complaints, and vignettes that arise from the unique perspective on life from the windows of the train. See you on the rails!

Hi, Susan,
I left you a beautifully written comment . . . only to have all of it erased in the process of having to register with Google.
Sorry. But I don't have the heart to rewrite it all over again. As an academician, you know that you never can rewrite as well as the first elan.
Here's the gist: Great blog. I will pass your blog information along to the National Association of Railroad Passengers. I believe that you have made a first step in building a "Surfliner community".
Great trip yesterday; I enjoyed visiting with you and your partner. I leave out on "The Zephyr" tomorrow for Chicago.
Have a safe and good trip to Portland.
My e-mail address: jaylmyers@prodigy.net.
Hope to hear from you from time to time.
Best wishes,
