So, a while back there was a row of old NJ Transit rail cars at Track 13 at Union Station.
Now they are sitting in the yard outside Oceanside.
Why do you suppose they are here?

Reflections from the Rails
I 've gone from being a weekly rider to a daily commuter on Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner train between San Diego and Los Angeles. I call the 120-mile ride my "power commute", and you'd be surprised how many of us there are! This blog includes train reflections, commuter complaints, and vignettes that arise from the unique perspective on life from the windows of the train. See you on the rails!

Metrolink had those NJ Transit trains on loan from the Port Authority. I talked to the guy over rail operations at Metrolink, they've got enough rolling stock to keep up with the surge of passengers now and is getting rid of the NJ Transit and the other borrowed sets (I can't remember exactly who). There's more stashed around Ventura too.
